Chishuru
Chishuru is a Michelin star restaurant but firmly positioned away from being a fine dining restaurant. Serving modern and traditional West African cuisine in a relaxed and homely setting.
Price range: ££ - £££
Back in April I took my boyfriend to the newly appointed Michelin star restaurant, Chishuru in Fitzrovia to celebrate his birthday 🍸 🇳🇬 ⭐️
I first heard of Chishuru after moving to Brixton and seeing Adejoké Bakare’s food celebrated across various social media accounts that cover all the food vendors in Brixton Village. When I saw she had opened a new restaurant in Fitzrovia and it was awarded a star, I knew it was the perfect place to take my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday!
After loving and enjoying his Nigerian cooking throughout our relationship, it was amazing to both go and try some of the same, traditional dishes but cooked in a very refined, different way. It was an amazing dining experience going through so many courses and trying new flavours and elements. My favourite dish was the Moi moi as it felt like a very elevated take on the traditional bean cake and the texture and flavour from the salted egg sauce was beautiful.
We were both really excited to try the Okra martini but it absolutely blew our socks off so we had to order a soft drink and make our own cocktail — we’d recommend they add our mix to the cocktail menu because it was 10/10😂
The restaurant was really beautifully decorated, service was wonderful (they even gave a birthday card signed by the team) and we’d love to go back as the menu changes!
They offer a set menu only, priced at £45pp at lunch and £95pp at dinner which feels incredibly reasonable for the amount of food you get and the quality of all the dishes!
(Note - when we visited it was priced at £75pp for dinner as shown in the menu below!)
