Maya's Bakehouse

Maya's Bakehouse started off as a micro-bakery during the pandemic in Brixton and grew to open their first shop in 2023 on Tulse Hill! They make a huge range of baked goods from scratch, from sourdough bread galettes, buns, quiches, frangipane tarts, Basque cheesecake and more!

When I lived in Brixton and saw a bakery open two minutes from my front door, I knew I was doomed. Every time I visited Maya’s I went in with the intention to just grab a coffee on my morning walk or lunch break, but it was impossible to leave without being tempted by their incredible selection of savoury or sweet pastries and baked goods, not to mention the freshly baked breads!🍞

There’s always something new and creative brought out each week, but they also have a consistent selection of your some classics - my regular picks are the Guinness Cake and Basque Cheesecake, it’s one of the best I’ve had!

If you’re in Brixton or Herne Hill, Maya’s is definitely worth checking out for a coffee and a sweet treat on your sunny walk around Brockwell Park (just a 3 minute walk from the exit at Arlingford Road!)

Some of their favourites from 2024:

- Nutmeg & custard buns

- Guiness cake
- Tiramisu cake
- Black forest gateaux
