Brockwell Park
Just 15 minutes walk from all that Brixton Village has to offer, Brockwell Park sits in Herne Hill and offers an oasis of nature with city skyline views.
When you ask someone to name the best park in London, they often say Hyde or Regent’s Park. But for those in the know, Brockwell Park stands in a league of its own!! Nestled between Brixton, Herne Hill, and Tulse Hill, this park offers a perfect blend of history, nature, and local culture that sets it apart from the more tourist-heavy green spaces in central London.
What makes Brockwell Park special isn’t just its green spaces but the incredible mix of features it has: beautifully maintained walled gardens, ponds, a historic clock tower, and even remnants of Brockwell Hall, a Grade II-listed mansion that dates back to the early 19th century (currently under-going a revamp!), and lastly, its panoramic view of the London skyline. You can see everything from Battersea Power Station, the Shard to Canary Wharf and its a perfect spot to watch the sunset over the city, away from the crowds.
Unlike the vast, often impersonal expanses of Hyde Park, Brockwell feels like a true neighborhood park, and a lot of its character comes from the independent cafés, restaurants and shops that surround it. On weekends, people gather for picnics, runners struggle up its hills, and dog walkers enjoy its open spaces. The park is also home to Brockwell Lido with an Art Deco design.
Aside from the more relaxing days at the park, it’s also a key venue for events throughout the year. From the famous Lambeth Country Show to music festivals like Wide Awake and Cross The Tracks, the park brings together music lovers, foodies, and families.
